Joining Flex Assure demonstrates your commitment to high standards in flexibility services. Here is what the application process involves.

How it works.

The application process has four stages. Most providers complete it within a few weeks.

Download and complete the form

The application form includes your company details, which markets you operate in, and a self-assessment against the relevant Code of Conduct. It takes most providers around an hour to complete.

Gather your supporting evidence

You will need to provide documentation alongside your form, including your Certificate of Incorporation, insurance, cyber security policy, and evidence of your sales and complaints processes.

Submit your application

Email your completed form and supporting documents to info@flexassure.org, or post them to our registered address. Our team will review everything and get back to you.

Review and assessment

We review your declarations and evidence, and may ask for clarification on specific points. Once the review is complete, we will confirm the outcome and next steps for joining the scheme.

What you will need to provide.

Alongside the completed form, please include the following documents with your application.

Certificate of Incorporation

A copy of your company's certificate from Companies House.

General liability insurance

Current insurance documentation covering your provision of flexibility services.

Cyber security policy

Your internal policy, plus any accreditation such as Cyber Essentials. Note: for domestic and microbusiness providers, a valid cyber security accreditation is required.

Sales training evidence

Training materials, employee records, or any details showing how your sales team is trained.

Sales and marketing record-keeping

Evidence of your CRM or record-keeping system (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot, PipeDrive). No customer data needed.

Complaints and dispute resolution procedure

For I&C providers: your standard complaints procedure. For domestic providers: evidence of joining the Energy Ombudsman's ADR scheme.

Online presence

Links to your website and active social media accounts (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.).

Sub-contractor details

Company name, registration number, key contact, and role for any third parties involved in delivering your flexibility services.

What the self-assessment covers.

The form asks you to declare your compliance across these areas. You can tick "yes" if you currently comply or can commit to complying by the time your membership begins.

Sales and marketing

Materials are accurate, current, and not misleading
Responsibility for employees and agents acting on your behalf
Sales training programmes are maintained
Code of Conduct is shared with all sales staff
Records of sales activity are kept

Contracts and proposals

Written proposals meet scheme requirements
Quotation processes are compliant
Contracts are clear and meet scheme standards
Code of Conduct is shared with potential customers before signing

Operations and compliance

Cyber security procedures are in place
Insurance meets scheme requirements
Data protection laws are followed
Acceptance of scheme audits and disciplinary proceedings

Complaints and disputes

Complaints and dispute resolution procedures are in place
Records of customer complaints are maintained

If you serve industrial and commercial customers, the I&C Code of Conduct applies. If you serve domestic customers or microbusinesses, the Domestic and Microbusiness Code applies. If you operate in both markets, both codes apply, and your application will cover both.

The form itself takes most providers around an hour to complete. Once submitted, our review typically takes a few weeks, depending on the completeness of your application and whether we need to request any additional information.
